Students get relief as Tema East MP intervenes in Manhean SHS water shortage

The Member of Parliament for Tema East, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, has coordinated an emergency intervention to address an acute water shortage at Manhean Senior High Technical School in Tema Manhean.

The intervention follows disruptions in water supply to parts of the Tema enclave caused by a technical fault on one of the main pipelines of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) serving the Tema catchment area.

According to the Office of the MP, Hon. Odamtten facilitated the immediate supply of 30,000 litres of water to the school to mitigate the impact of the shortage on students and staff. The water was delivered in two phases—an initial 10,000 litres on Wednesday, January 21, followed by an additional 20,000 litres later the same day.

The exercise was carried out with support from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, which released its water tanker, and the Ghana National Fire Service, Tema New Town Station, which provided access to water hydrants to enable the deliveries.

The temporary supply has eased the immediate water situation at the school.

Meanwhile, Hon. Odamtten is said to be engaging officials of GWCL to ensure a permanent solution to the pipeline fault and the restoration of normal water supply to affected communities in the constituency.

The Office of the MP commended GWCL for ongoing repair works and expressed appreciation to the Tema Metropolitan Assembly and the Tema New Town Fire Service for their support.

The MP’s office assured residents that it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as efforts to resolve the water supply challenges continue.
