Obuasi: Nine remanded for attacking police officers

The Obuasi Circuit Court has remanded nine accused persons into prison custody after they were charged with assaulting public officers.

Their arrest and subsequent arraignment followed the circulation of a viral video on social media that showed police officers being attacked at the Tweapease Senior High School Park in the Ashanti Region.

The accused are Joshua Frimpong, also known as Joey B; Bannor Williams; Isaac Dwumfour, also known as Sporty; Evans Bannor, also known as Pressure King; Asiedu Ronald, also known as Case Close; Sarfo Alex, also known as Okele; Yaw Alex; Obidiaba Desmond; and Agyemang Emmanuel.

They appeared before the Obuasi Circuit Court on January 8, 2026, where they were formally charged with assaulting public officers.

According to the police, the incident occurred at the Tweapease Senior High School Park, where the suspects, together with other individuals, allegedly attacked officers who were on duty at the location.

Police say investigations into the case are ongoing and have cautioned that anyone who attacks law enforcement officers will be identified and held accountable.
