The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has praised the Akufo-Addo administration’s achievement of achieving 80% of its 2020 campaign commitments while attacking his opponent, John Dramani Mahama.

Dr. Bawumia addressed the media on Sunday, August 25, in Accra, emphasizing the NPP government’s commitment to keeping its promises, citing its achievement of delivering on 83% of its 2016 manifesto commitments.

He compared this to the alleged failure of Mahama to deliver on 203 of the 280 promises included in his 2012 manifesto, or only 28% of his pledges.

Dr. Bawumia stated, “I think we have a very pretty record in terms of honoring our promises.

“We have examined our 2016 manifesto and the percentage of those manifestos that we have honored and we have honored 83% of them. And even in the middle of all these challenges, we are fulfilling or have fulfilled eighty percent of the 2020 pledges in our manifesto, Dr. Bawumia explained.

The vice president’s claim is made during the 2024 presidential campaign, when platform accomplishments are expected to be a major talking point.

He has previously charged that former President John Mahama broke his campaign promises and has a long history of criticizing the former leader’s performance.

The NPP government’s campaign team for former John Mahama has responded to Dr. Bawumia’s allegations by claiming that the government has overstated its accomplishments and neglected to address important national challenges.
