The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally begun its 2024 election campaign with a launch in Tamale, Northern Region.
The NDC National Executives and party leaders took turns speaking to supporters at the “Change To Reset Ghana” event, which was hosted at Jubilee Park.
John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate, has promised to fix Ghana if voted for in the forthcoming December 7 elections.
According to him, the NDC comprises of men and women capable of turning the country’s fortunes around.
“My primary goal is to generate employment opportunities for the country’s youth, which is why I’m putting forth the 24-hour economy policy,” he declared.
He announced that the NDC administration will establish farmer service centers in each area to provide farmers with assistance in the form of seeds and tractor services, among other things, to improve agriculture.
“The 24-hour economy will be linked to an accelerated export development program and create agro-processing zones, and young people would be encouraged to enter the agro-processing industry and package their goods beautifully for export or local use,” he added.
As a living document, the 1992 Constitution will be reviewed and amended, according to the NDC flagbearer’s government.
According to Mr. Mahama, the Women’s Development Bank will be established by the incoming NDC government. It will assist more than a million women in the nation in expanding their enterprises.
He asked every fan of the NDC party to volunteer to campaign on their behalf till they actively party’s victory in the elections on December 7 is declared.
“Everyone is going to volunteer, we will protect every single vote, and we are not going to sleep for 48 hours until all the ballots are counted,” he declared.
Mr. Mahama disclosed that if any appointments in his prospective government were shown to be involved in corrupt practices, he would not defend them.
“For those who want to be a part of my new administration, things won’t be running smoothly. Be aware that you are joining a government that values integrity, hard work, humility, and accountability. Just as we hold former government appointees responsible for their misdeeds, so too will you be held accountable and punished if you are charged with misconduct while serving in the next John Mahama administration,” he stated.
