The Eastern Regional Health Directorate has registered 45 confirmed cases of Dengue Fever as of July 17, 2024.

There are currently five districts that have been verified to have cases: Birim Central, Achiase, Akyemansa, Birim South, and Birim North. 34 new positive cases were reported as of July 17, 2024.

Ten district which include Birim Central, Birim South, Achiase, Akyemansa, Birim North, New Juaben South, Lower Manya Krobo, Fanteakwa North, Abuakwa North, and Kwaebibirem—are currently listed as having suspected cases.

Regrettably, one employee of the Health Service is impacted by the fever.

The cumulative suspected cases, according to data published by the Regional Health Directorate, are 229 Overall positive findings 45, overall negative results is 93, cumulative lab results received 138, and total lab results pending: 91

In order to ensure behavioral change toward avoiding insect bites and dengue fever, the Health Directorate is expected to establish treatment centers within districts without hospitals in the case that a doctor has severe cases.

District hospitals have been established, according to the Eastern Regional Health Directorate, to handle severe cases of the dengue fever outbreak.

Additionally, constant monitoring of dengue fever is expected to occur in all communities and health facilities.

Districts have received support with certain logistics for sample collection and case management, such as EDTA vacutainer tubes, IV fluids, and paracetamol, according to a release from the Regional Health Directorate.

They are also engaging with NMEP to provide guidance on vector control and coordinating with the Public Health Division to obtain additional logistics to support districts in case management

and sample collection.

Furthermore, the impacted districts will still receive assistance from the National and Regional Teams so that clinicians will get case management training to assist with the outbreak response, a car has to be mobilized for Birim South.

Anyone experiencing two to seven days of intense fever and two or more of the following symptoms—headache, retroorbital discomfort, myalgia, arthralgia, rash, hemorrhagic signs, leucopenia—should seek medical attention at the closest health facility.
