Sixteen passengers have died in a tragic road accident involving a Ford Transit bus and an ambulance at Potrikrom on the Kumasi–Sunyani Highway in the Ashanti Region.
The crash occurred near Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South East District on the Kumasi-Sunyani road. The Ford Transit bus, registration GT 6576-19, was travelling from Kumasi to Drobo, while the ambulance was reportedly carrying a pregnant woman from Drobo to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
The collision at Potrikrom claimed the lives of all 16 passengers on the bus. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed. The condition of the pregnant woman and other occupants of the ambulance remains unclear.
The bodies of the victims have been taken to Mankranso Hospital mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene expressed his condolences to the bereaved families, saying, “May their souls rest in peace.”
